Japan Trip!

Welcome! Trey and I were fortunate enough to travel to JAPAN for about 10 days! We visited Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nara! 🏯

Our first meal in Japan after 2 long flights, a layover, and a 16 hour time jump!

Coming out of the Tokyo Haneda airport ✈

First stop at 7/11 - it's a whole different experience than in the states!

Our little hotel room 😊

Breakfast with a hot matcha latte!

Mr. Donut was so good! Not overly sweet and super fresh.

A lot of restaurants used these meal robots. So cute!

Fun fact about Japan, almost all toilet seats are heated and have bidets! There's even a privacy button where it makes water sounds so nobody else can hear you 😂

We visited the Samurai and Ninja museum!

We had a great tour guide talk about the history of the Samurai!

We had fun throwing Ninja stars "shuriken"!

Just doing some exploring!

Sensō-ji Temple!

Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake)

Whipped cream strawberry pastry!

Animal café!

We took public transport everywhere! Subways, trains, and walking. We averaged about 25,000 steps a day!

Holy Resurrection Cathedral - St. Nikolai. Trey's Patron Saint founded this church! St. Nikolai introduced Orthodox Christianity to Japan. My favorite fact about St. Nikolai is that a former Samurai came to kill St. Nikolai and left converted to Orthodox Christianity!

We have to try Mickey D's in every country we visit. Fun fact, the combos shown here were about $4 USD 😅

Gōtokuji Temple (Cat Temple)!

Beautiful graveyard near Gōtokuji Temple

Another delicious meal! You can't really tell, but we were sitting on cushions on the floor for this one!

I thought this cat was very "Bob's Burgers"

Taiyaki with red bean paste filling and a hot matcha latte!

Meiji Jingu Shrine!

Shibuya Scramble Crossing

Educational event for Gaza

Hachikō, the loyal Akita

The famous Shibuya 3D cat!

Visited a Maid Café and it was so cute!

7/11 Midnight snacks to the left and an NYC-inspired café to the right.

Japanese Soufflé Pancakes

Kitty Café! Unlimited drinks while you get to pet and hangout with cute kitties.

💕

(Left) Tried Japanese curry for the first time and loved it! It was perfect for all the cold, rainy days while we were there. (Right) Hot café latte in the morning at our hotel.

Fresh Mochi!

Bento boxes for the Bullet Train ride to Kyoto!

200 MPH!

Our Kyoto hotel was so cozy!

More Ramen!

We failed at not getting sick on the trip - I like to think these Vitamin C shots helped us be "less" sick, but we both got hit pretty bad 😅

Japan goes hard on their baked goods and I loved it

Matcha cornbread! It was SO GOOD

Nishiki Market

Kenninji Temple

We had to take our shoes off and walk around just in our socks to preserve the temple grounds!

Peep the required slippers we had to use to walk around outside the temple!

It was common to see water basins outside of temples and shrines!

Boar-Devoted Temple

(Left) Gion, the Geisha District in Kyoto (Right) traditional Geisha attire

Hair pins for Geisha! We got to watch Geisha do traditional dances (no photos or video allowed). It was beautiful!

Japan does Italian really well!

Matcha soft serve and strawberry matcha tiramisu

This is the card we used for public transit!

Kyoto at night!

(Left) We tried a public Onsen bathhouse! Onsen are natural hot springs throughout Japan with minerals and healing qualities. It's tradition after an Onsen bath to drink milk (Right)!

MOS Burger was so good, we went a couple of times! It's a Japanese fast-food chain.

Trey slept in one morning, so I walked to find this pastry and bagel shop! I had the most scrumptious chocolate bagel!

Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto!

Approximately 12,000 stairs to get to top. We went farther than most!

Found some Shrine kitties!

Shohei Ohtani - Japanese LA Dodgers player ⚾

So cute 😻

(Left) Onigiri (Japanese rice balls) with tuna mayo. I loved these! (Right) Trey got the famous Kill Bill shoes - Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66

I've wanted to visit Nara Park for years!

Deer roam free and hang out with the humans 😊

It was SO cold that day, I had to purchase a hoodie to go over my hoodie! Not mad about it, though 😉

Last day exploring Tokyo!

Tokyo Dome

Lol Trey wanted a photo with the Taco Bell ad!

Demon Slayer-themed Observatory!

(Left) Okonomiyaki and (Right) Fluffy Japanese Soufflé Pancakes!

(Left) So much manga! We went to buildings with 7 or 8 floors of just manga. (Right) A few makeup trinkets!

Pork Katsu - this was our last real Japanese meal before our flight. The sweet, elderly owner told us we could pay him "next time" because we didn't know they only accepted cash 😭 he was so nice! I used Google translate for our conversation. We went to grab some cash from the nearby 7/11 and paid, of course. It was just a nice memory on our last day!

My Hero Academia statue

Last coffee before heading to the airport!

Oh my gosh - what a whirlwind this trip was! Until next time!
